The Wonderful World of Willows

Vermont Willow Nursery

Salix purpurea x miyabeana 'Millbrook'

Millbrook Hybrid Willow

This is another inspired cross! Combining the deer resistance of Salix purpurea with the vigorous growth of Salix miyabeana was certain to create a real winner. I expect this hybrid to become a dominant selection for living structures as it will grow with ease and is deer resistant to boot.

'Millbrook' is a vigorous female triploid selection that will grow to 25ft if left unpruned. The leaves

are more or less oblong, 3-4in long by .5-1in wide. The stems are grey-orange when young, turning yellow-green as they mature. The catkins have orange-red bud scales.

We have recently aquired this selection and are building up stock.
