fragilis = fragile (stems)

jaune = yellow     Falaise = a town in Normandy, France

Falaise Golden Willow

This is a French selection named after Falaise (the last city in Normandy to be retaken by the Allies in WWII). It has striking yellow stems. It’s a vigorous grower and coppices well to produce lots of straight, flexible rods. Hardy to Zone 3. Dried rod color: light tan to orange-red

USES: large ornamental tree; if coppiced it provides lots of stems for cutting; great winter color for the garden, container or vase; good for basketry and dried stems turn orange.

Two-year stems of ‘Jaune de Falaise’ in the nursery, with few branches of another willow behind. Bright yellow branches show well against a blue sky.
